About Bodie, More or Less

Bodie Plecas writes across genres because apparently choosing one would have been too straightforward. He’ll go from a heartwarming Christmas fable to an old-Hollywood murder mystery without blinking—rock and roll and the supernatural are just where he stops to catch his breath.

Born in Chicago, the City of Big Shoulders, Bodie has worked jobs ranging from actor to trash remover, with detours through bartending, house painting, and DJing along the way. Somewhere in there he also made it to a thousand-plus concerts and ten thousand records, but who’s counting?

His first book, Keith Lives!, is a satirical rock-and-roll fable about the intersection of fame, culture, and human nature, told through an It’s a Wonderful Life lens. The Adventures of Black Santa, is a modern Christmas story about family, second chances, and the things that aren’t always what they first appear to be.

Underneath, it’s always the same territory: flawed people, second chances, improbable situations, and the peculiar things we mistake for normal. The stories are funny until they aren’t—and occasionally the other way around.

When he’s not writing or recording with his band, Picnic Tool, Bodie’s home in Southern California with his wife, his daughter, and more guitars than any household needs. He loves hearing from readers, so drop him a line.
